An ancient First Race era artifact that contains Vultus the Inquisitive. If the Black Cradle opens, the Void within will spill forth, and shortly after Vultus will crawl out in search of a champion.
The true nature of the Cradle has been lost to time. The last people who knew of the darkness within tried to destroy it. Unsuccessful, they split it into 3 parts. Door, Lock, and Key. These parts have been scattered. Over time, the legends surrounding the artifact have morphed.
It is now known as the Fount of Truth.
