A tribe of Aasimar, the Esprin, came to Kravral with the goal of conquering the wild land. Before the arrival of the Esprin, Central Kraval was home to two civilizations, the Giants and Dwarves. The giants ruled over Kravral and treated the dwarves like vermin.
The tribe’s chieftain, Volzar Esprin, felt an innate kinship with the hardy dwarves. The Esprin were fierce warriors and the dwarves were naturally skilled smiths and craftsmen. Seeing the potential for an alliance, Volzar journeyed across Kravral and visited each leader of the Seven Dwarven Clans of Kravral. Volzar proposed the Esprin help defeat the giants in return for the dwarves teaching Volzar’s people a bit of their legendary craft. The clan leaders enthusiastically agreed and an alliance was forged.
Shortly, the unified Esprin and dwarves waged total war upon the giants. The conflict raged for many years, with the alliance slowly gaining ground and pushing the giants northward. It seemed as if the alliance’s victory was assured, until the giant races held the Gjallarmoot.
The Gjallarmoot resulted in the unification of the giants. Like many giant meetings, the moot dissolved into an all out brawl, where it was said the sound of the conflict could be heard all across Aecury. The moot was only finished when Geirröd Blackflame was the last giant standing and unanimously chosen as the leader of the Unified Jotun Alliance. The site, now also called Gjallarmoot, is still host to raging elemental magics, echoing the legendary conflict from thousands of years prior.
The then combined might of the jotun tipped the scales of war in their favor, forcing the Esprin-Dwarf alliance southward as they reclaimed lost ground. Eventually, the war entered a brutal stalemate with neither side able to triumph over the other.
The alliance were fatigued by the long and brutal conflict. Many of the Dwarven clans viewed the war as a success, as it earned them a measure of freedom from giant tyranny. However, the Esprin people held deeply rooted beliefs in their own supremacy. In their eyes, anything less than total domination was unthinkable. Volzar, prideful and shrewd in equal measure, knew he had no hope of victory without the aid of the dwarven clans. Thus he hatched a plan to finish the war by the years end.
Using a combination of secret smithing techniques known only to the clan leaders and unique magics discovered by Sahtekar the Binder, seven legendary weapons were created that came to be known as the Magna Arms. The Magna Arms were granted to the dwarven clan leaders and each was attuned to their essence. With each clan leader masterfully wielding one of the Magna Arms, the giants were pushed to the brink of extinction within a few short months. Unbeknownst to the dwarves each Magna Arm additionally had its essence linked to Volzar himself, making him and his descendants the true master of both weapons and wielders.
The war finally having come to a close, the Esprin and the Clans parted ways. The Clans went northward into the mountains, seeking the comfort of stone to heal. There they founded
LEADERS WILLS WERE SO FULLY SUBJUGATED THAT THEIR SOULS WERE RUINED AND THEIR BODIES WARPED INTO MONSTROUS FORMS. EVEN NOW SOME STILL ROAM THE LAND, SEPARATED FROM THEIR BLADES AND SEEKING AN END TO THEIR TORMENT.
In the short time since the Esprin arrived in Kravral their understanding of essence manipulation, having started being referred to as soul sculpting, had advanced quickly. Instead of modifying the essence, they discovered the ability to remove the essence of something and combine it with the essence of another.
enslaving and eventually genociding the Dwarven Clans.
Eventually through excessive manipulation of their souls, the summoning of demons angels and something in between, they lost the ability to reproduce. This spurred them to attempt to achieve immortality, inadvertantly flaying their souls
