The Onyx Gaze tried to find the next step in mind flayer’s evolution. First as alhoons, they overthrew the elder brains. Then through expiriments they created human/flayer hybrids that became powerful sorcerers.
The Ivory Masquerade sought to protect the world from extraplanar threats to humanoid existence. They also attempted to prevent knowledge of these threats from reaching the masses.
The organization wants to protect the world from threats, but not by hiding information. Instead the organization seeks to educate and uplift the masses, academically and magically. Only through knowledge can one find their path and only through their own power can they travel it. The organization seeks an arcane revolution, spreading mastery of magic through sorcery to all.
