History
Officially founded in 2386 by Marceli Janozyk Historia the small kingdom quickly rose to prominence by bringing many smaller tribes into their fold. The first major victory won by the armies of Historia was in 2401 when Historia ended a 3 year war with the northern nation of Kelaemvalk. This was also when the god Kelemvor was introduced to the populace by way of slaves taken in the conflict, and shortly thereafter the Church of Righteous Death was formally established.
By 2420 the Church of Wind and Sun was officially adopted as a state religion, though before this widly practiced within their borders. For the next century Historia experienced relative stability, though tensions grew as each religion vied for power. After the schism split the Church of Wind and Sun into the Church of the Golden Sun and the Church of the Platinum Lord, and nearly caused a civil war, the Pillars system was officially codified. Reformed as the “Historian Syncretate” (see syncretism), Historia became a full theocracy with the leaders of the churches of the Golden Sun, Iron Guard, and Righteous Death each acting as ‘pillar’ to support the nation.
For the remainder of the 3rd millenium Historia flourished as a nation, slowly growing by subsuming smaller neighboring powers. As the dawn of the new millenium approached two major events stoked the flames of fear and ambition.
Following the time of strife caused by the Weeping Mountains in the 23rd century, contact between non-neighboring nations in Akran was nonexistent. As the survivors of the calamity picked up the pieces of their ruined kingdoms and began to reclaim their lost glory, the western Kingdom of EverRealm and Historia rediscovered one another. Limited diplomacy and trade was established and slowly grew as the centuries passed. Historian diplomats reported that EverRealm had faired far better most other nations of Akran during the calamity. Historia was troubled by this revelation but over time each nation seemed absorbed by troubles near and within its own borders.
In 2985 EverRealm ended it’s 500 year long war with the Crimson Province, seemingly overnight. In the following months Historian scouts made the startling discovery that the entire region, formerly known as the Crimson Province, had been wiped clean. All that remained was a massive cratered landscape host to violent and dangerous magical phenomena. If EverRealm had the ability to utterly destroy a nation in a single night, nothing would stop them from conquering Historia.
The discovery of the threat posed by EverRealm caused fear to sweep through the populace, but the revelation by the Order of the Vigilant Hand drove it to hysteria. The Rex Probus famously declared the following:
If men wish to live, then they are forced to kill others. The entire struggle for survival is a conquest of the means of existence, which in turn results in the elimination of others from these same sources of subsistence. As long as there are peoples on this land, there will be nations against nations and they will be forced to protect their vital rights in the same way as the individual is forced to protect his rights. One is either the hammer or the anvil. I confess that it is our purpose to prepare the Historian people for the role of the hammer.
Culture
The kingdom of Historia, located in the eastern province of Akran, is ancient and well established. One unique aspect of the throne in Historia is that it has been, since its inception, dedicated to the one who most perfectly represents the ideals of Helm: the Rex Probus. Inside the walls of the capital city Amangrad crime is all but a bad dream. Most citizens are devout followers of the four state recognized faiths: the Church of the Golden Sun, the Church of the Platinum Lord, the Church of Righteous Death, and the Church of the Iron Guard. Historia has a long history of victorious battles with small city states and for that they claim much of the area surrounding the high walls of Amangrad.
